So this week has been a bit odd for me. I am usually a very positive, go getter type of person, but for some reason I've been a bit off lately. I've had soo much to do this week and I feel like I've let it get me down (I let it take way longer than it should have) and just get me off track in general. In an effort to get my head back on straight, I've put together a few things that make me happy, as well as a few things that inspire me. I feel like when I get bogged down by all the little things I need a reminder of what my goals are and how awesome it will be when I reach them. SO if you've been having a wonderful week, then I hope this makes your Friday even better. If not, keep reading and lets cheer up and refocus together! *Btw, if you're reading this from a feeder site like Bloglovin, the format may look extremely weird! Check out the original post to get the whole wonderful effect!*
It literally makes me so happy just to look at them! They are precious to look at and even better to eat! I guess it's the Blair Waldorf in me, but I've always wanted to have some delivered to my door. Oh, wouldn't that be so nice!
Sometimes, when I'm bored or having a miserable day, I go to the quote section on Pinterest and just scroll for a bit. On my last little "pick me up" session I found these two. They are just lovely and really make me realize that even though my classes are so boring at the moment (why do I need to learn about tax policy?) and although I may be stressed about my test today, when I am a kick-butt politician and lawyer, all those classes will be worth it!
The Royal Family.
If you're visiting Sarah Smile for the first time, then you may not know I'm obsessed with all things British. But I am. And these photos from Prince George's christening made me so inexplicably happy. It sounds so weird to say, because I don't mean the royal part (necessarily), but this is exactly what my dream future would look like. They look so happy, and so in love, in a real, un-staged way. Ahh, I love them.
There is nothing I love more than picking up an old favorite book of mine, opening it right up the middle, and pressing my nose inside. Then when you flutter all the pages and the wonderful old book smell just surrounds you, that's the greatest feeling. I couldn't imagine my life if I didn't know how o read and write, as most obviously, I wouldn't be writing to you now, but I also wouldn't be the well-rounded, well-educated person I am now. I have learned so much because of my favorite books and characters, and the smell of an old book just encapsulates all that for me.
As one last little tidbit, I'd like to share a funny story about Oxford that I forgot to include in my earlier post. Obviously, I did not know where I was going and game day was absolutely crazy! Whilst I was trying to find my way to the bathrooms, I noticed the crowd started parting, sort of making a path, and people were giving me little high-fives every now and then and cheering. Now as weird as that sounds, especially since I was wearing away team colors, I didn't think anything of it until the football team (and band) walked up behind me and someone pulled me aside to tell me I was walking the Walk of Champions. Oh yes, the special pre-game walk for the band and football team to greet the fans. So unlike my original assumption, the crowd was not parting because they knew I was a princess. Total letdown.
After all those wonderful things (and also the 95% I just made on my comparative politics exam Wednesday), I feel so much better already! Here's to a lovely weekend!
What are some of your favorite "pick me up" things? Are any of ours the same?
All my love,
P.S. - Leave me a comment if you got the post title reference! If so, you rock! (;
