My Favorite Sweaters for Fall and Winter

Good morning and Happy Monday! I hope your week is off to a good start. Louisiana had it's first taste of true fall weather this weekend and I had so much fun getting out all my fall purchases and finding places to shoot them for you! My favorites are this knit BP sweater, which runs a bit big and is perfectly slouchy,

and this H&M one which is a bit warmer and longer, but still runs one size big.
I LOVE both, so much so that I got the H&M one in the grey and the camel, and they're both slit up the side so they're not too boxy...very flattering! I wore that Old Navy blanket scarf all day because it's the perfect fall colors, SO soft, and only $19!
Here are a few of my favorites this season:
Make sure you check out the first cashmere turtle neck (it's under $90!!!!) and that light blue J.Crew bell sleeve sweater! I think both are great!

If you're looking for fall boots and booties, I have a whole post on them here, with perfect Start Weitzman dupes!!

An Afternoon at The Candy Bank

Good morning! In September, for my birthday weekend, Myles and I went to New Orleans. After our hotel stay, we spent the rest of our time in Mandeville, where his parents live, and had so much fun exploring! It was an absolutely beautiful day, albeit SO hot, and we loved just enjoying the weather and finding new places to see! I wanted to share two of those with you, in case you ever find yourself in Mandeville (just across the lake from New Orleans) needing recommendations!
This is SUCH a Mandeville picture. There were about 8 sailboats in the water, tons of people doing Yolo boards, biking, running, etc. I love how outdoorsy everyone is!
We had lunch on the lakefront at The Barley Oak. It's a brewhouse that serves food too and we absolutely love it. The German sausage plate is amazing, but I got a BBQ brisket sandwich for lunch instead. The sandwich was everything I was in the mood for, but that view!!
After lunch, we headed off in search of dessert! Myles had heard about The Candy Bank and it sounded like the perfect place. Y'all, it was precious and I walked away with about 10 pounds of candy.
It's on the corner of Carrol and Claiborne and just a few blocks from the Lakefront. It's in an old bank building and is filled with vintage touches and tons of natural light.
When you walk in, you see the front counter, behind which, they show case all of their homemade sodas! They also have ice cream and bunches of tables to sit down and enjoy your goodies.
The back room, though, is where all the magic happens. There are rows and rows of everything from chocolate truffles to gummy worms to jelly beans. Every detail is so picture perfect and everything looks beautiful, and smells delicious!

I bought a little of everything and I swear it lasted more than a day, but barely! Obviously the candy was a little more than I'd usually pay, but the experience was so much fun and the variety can't be beat. It was so cute watching all of the excited kids picking out their favorites and they had everything I could've ever wanted. If you find yourself in the area with some time to spare, I highly recommend it!

Boots and Booties

Good morning guys! There is nothing I love more than a quiet Sunday. I love waking up slow, making my way downstairs for breakfast, and spending all day on the couch. With that in mind, I'm thinking of starting a "Sunday shopping" series where I just share with you all the new things I've found that week and any new sales I think y'all might like!
Since it is starting to cool off, I thought I'd start with my favorite boots and booties. I just recently got this pair from TOMS and I am so in love. I am so picky with booties because my thighs are the biggest part of my body, so I don't want to look like an upside down triangle with a bigger middle and tiny ankles. There are a little taller, so they make my legs look slimmer, the heel height is perfect and SO comfortable, and the soft taupe suede will match with everything! I would 100% recommend them and they're at a great price point as well. I rounded up a few other pairs that I thought were just adorable, especially the Stuart Weitzman knockoffs in the perfect fall color (for less than half the price)!

Also, just a heads up, my favorite nude flats, that look just like the Chanel cap toe classics, are currently on sale! The nude color is perfect, they match with everything, and they are 40% off!

My Favorite Plaid Shirts

YALL, plaid season is finally here! It's cooling down here in Louisiana and I've been stocking up on all my flannels and pretty plaids I can wear all season long and for many seasons to come. I'm a huge fan of more laid back, baggy flannels to wear with leggings and jeans for class and weekend errands, but I also love the look of a crisp plaid shirt with a skirt for more formal events. I've included a mix of both here, so ENJOY!
I'll start with the two I recently got from Old Navy. I picked up this boyfriend shirt in a classic "Luke from Gilmore Girls" plaid and also this black watch one that fits a bit more slim. Both are super soft and both will get loads of wear from me this season, not to mention their great price! I'd say to size down in the boyfriend flannel, but get your usual size in the regular ones.
I just ordered this one from Uniqlo because Carly of The College Prepster recommended it. I saw it on her snap chat and immediately had to have it. It's different from anything in my closet and I think the white base will lighten up my black and navy fall wardrobe.
J.Crew brought back this plaid from last year and I AM SO GLAD because I wanted it so bad. I love the look of it and already have plans to wear it with a red skirt for a Christmas party. It's a but thinner, so perfect for fall, and will layer well come colder weather. I ordered my usual size because I want to tuck it into skirts, but order one size up for a baggier fit.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention the king of all plaid makers, LL Bean. Something about LL Bean just says "cozy cabin in the woods" to me, and what else would you wear in a cabin in the woods besides flannel? They're more heavy weight, which means more warmth, but that makes them perfect for chilly fall and winter mornings. Throw on a pair of leggings and cute flats and you're good to go! This one is calling my name, because it just screams Christmas morning, but I like this one too, because it will match everything. I'd say with these, order your normal size for a looser fit, or order one size down for a slimmer silhouette.
Overall, I just love this crisp, cool weather. I've been spending so much more time outside and I feel like my mood has improved so much. I love summer, but nothing beats a "60 and sunny" walk to class in the morning! If it's not so cold yet where you are, I posted a few fall transition pieces you can incorporate into your wardrobe now too! Hope you're having a great week so far, see you next time!

Friday Finds

I've been a little awol with midterms this week, but I have some great finds and some exciting news for you! Hope you've had a great week so far and enjoy these little things I've been loving!

Bean boots are on sale!! They never go on sale, so this is such a treat. I finally bit the bullet after wanting them for SO long and I got them for 20% off + free shipping (code = SAVE20)! I got the navy 8'' in a size 10, which is my usual size, so I can wear them with J.Crew camp socks! CAN NOT WAIT!
I just got these TOMS booties in the mail last night and I really love them! They're a bit taller on the ankle than most, but for me, because I have bigger calves, the extra length is nice and doesn't make my ankles look so small compared to my legs. Also, they are SO comfortable. I think the color, height, and heel height are all perfect and I'm so glad that after looking for weeks I found these!

My sister, who works at Bare Minerals, gave me a cleanser kit for my birthday and it came with this brush. It has a scrubbing head like a Clarisonic or my Vanity Planet Ultimate Skin Spa, but it has no  battery/power source, meaning I can use it in the shower. Guys, that is such a game changer. Although I use my ultimate skin spa when I travel, I rarely use it at home because I hate cleansing after I've already showered. With this, I get the same effect, but I use it in the shower, rinse it off, and just hang it back up with my loofa. LOVE.

Last but not least, I met The College Prepster aka Carly, and her boyfriend Garrett! It was one of those totally random things because I just decided to run off to New Orleans last night after finding out about her meetup. She was super sweet, exactly like she seems on her blog and in her vlogs and I could've stayed and talked to them forever. It was like meeting up with an old friend and I'm so glad she was so sweet and welcoming, because I was nervous the whole way there. There's another picture of us on my Insta, but I love this one because I couldn't stop giggling the whole time, it was just SO cool! It totally reminded me why I loved Carly and her blog in the first place and I know it sounds cheesy, but I feel re-inspired about my bloggy blog. Okay, I'll stop gushing now.

My life has been crazy since I took the LSAT two weeks ago, but I promise I've got some exciting posts coming up, so stayed tuned. Happy Friday!
